1. a) a snake, especially a big snake. b) any one of various animals in legend supposed to be like a snake in shape but usually of enormous size and often living in the sea or a lake.
2. Figurative. a sly, treacherous person.
3. a bass woodwind instrument with three U-shaped turns, used especially in the 1700's and 1800's: »
